Hey all, This is my first post here. Currently I have a 93 4x4 Pickup (Toyota of course), but I recently ordered the new FJ Cruiser. I drove one a few days ago and it was a sweet ride. Yes, the visibility wasn't great, but it was better than my truck with a camper shell on it. The big side mirrors really help. Adding a 3 dollar blind spot mirror to the outside should help too. It seemed to have pretty good power too. I was able to accelerate pretty quickly at highway speeds. I did not get the chance to take it off road, but I did drive on some bumpy roads and the ride was really smooth.

A lot of people have been complaining about the back seat/doors. This wasn't an issue. As someone who has an extended cab truck now, there was a lot more room and access was much easier. This isn't a SUV for soccer moms. That is why they are called access doors, not passenger doors.

I really like the plastic floors. As someone who brings in a lot of dirt and mud from outside, it will be nice not to have to vacuum carpet anymore.

I'm a little dissappointed that it probably will not come with the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA/KO. Dealership manager said they can't request specific tires. I'm also not crazy about the color selection, wish they had a green or maroon, but oh well. I plan on mine being mostly mud or dirt colored!

I plan on going back to the dealership to drive it one more time. Hopefully mine will be here in a couple of weeks. I'll post more later.

ciao

First of all, SATX, welcome to MUD!!

You might find a BFG tire dealership in your area that will give you a pretty good trade-in credit for your brand new stock FJC tires towards the purchase of what you really want (AT TA/Kos). Typically less than 100 miles on the brand new tires. Discount Tire has been know to do that and so have some smaller franchises.

I agree 100%. Many are mentioning the lack of visibility as though it is some fatal flaw. I think it's just a minor inconvenience and certainly no worse than my X-cab Taco with a camper. (And yes, I have sat in one but no, I haven't driven one.)

Me too. I carry 2 dogs everywhere I go and the hair in the back of the 80 is a hassle. It would be great to just hose it out every couple of weeks.

Welcome to the board! Be sure to get some pics up when you get your ride. I agree that the visibility will not be an issue with people that can properly adjust mirrors.

The black cherry might work for you.
