Anyone thats done modding or built their own trailer have a good source of "add-ons" like tie down points and such??

I turned a 8x12 foot flatbed trailer into a boat trailer for Whitewater rafts. Basically added a set of carpeted "bunks" over the top of the wheelwells.

But I havent found anything like I want for tie-downs locally? They are either too big, too flimsy, or too many sharp, catch points for my liking around rafts...

Looking for some type of flip D-rings that have a relatively narrow profile but strong mounting points...

Have you considered a rail-type tie down system? If clearance is an issue you can mount them flush by screwing additional sections of thin plywood on each side of the rails to the existing floor. It's really handy to be able to move the tie downs to new locations without tools, or remove them entirely.

Here's a pic of my trailer tie downs:

Thanks for the pic, yeah I have thought about the rails, at least the ones similar to the light aircraft style I see in planes. Again my only concern there was sharp edges and such.... They will be on the outside edges of the bunks, so I'm trying to avoid anything that people could catch themselves on (or their boat) when loading/unloading rafts, where there is a lot of potential to tear themselves, or their drysuit up... I do have a West Marine I havent looked at so i should see what they have.

I have the MACS versatrack on my car hauler/motorcycle/wood trailer and it kicks ass. Its rated to 5k pulls as well and can be flush mounted.

I plan to use the type of hatch rings found on crawl space hatches for tie downs in the back of my 40. Available at home stores for about $4.00 each.

Also a great source of high quality/great price add-ons of all sorts including trailer brake controllers, tie-downs(weld and bolton), and led lights, etc.. is on ebaystores:
