Ham and/or CB antenna installs

I had a late breakfast with the local ham club and got to talking with them about my limited transmit range and static they received from me when farther from the repeater but well within typical range.
It turns out that rust is not a good thing with antenna mounts.

These standard mounts should be sealed up with silicone and make sure cranked down tight to provide good ground whether Ham or CB.

I wonder if my Dad was there? He was supposed to take his level 2 amateur radio test this morning with a local club (out of Leavenworth I thought) that meets for breakfast somewhere...
