The dealer adjusted my parking brake, and now rear wheels smell like burnt brakes, and wheels get hot. Yet its not dragging, when brake is released. What did they do?

Over adjustment comes to mind

I've been pulling wrenches for over 30 yrs now and it a very common rookie mistake. Go get it redone.

They ordered new drums, & drum in disk shoes. They realy messed it up so bad, that they need a sledge hammer to get drum off--as it bacame fused to brake shoes.

They also didn't tighten up the lugs on one side, which also may have caused a hub problem. I noticed after 100 miles of driving that they were finger loose.

Why did you need a Parking brake adjustment on a new vehicle?

brake wasn't holding on hills. You would have to yank the brake almost out of the vehicle just to get it to roll slowly. It was good new, but after 9000 miles it never self adjusted.

My parking brake required adjustment almost immediately - it would not engage until halfway up and you really had to pull it to the max to get it to hold.

Is the E-brake a little drum? I know it has 4 wheel disc brakes, but I just thought the E-brake operated the rear disc.

Yes, its a drum brake-insude a adisk rotor. All rear disk brakes have an internal drum built in for the E-brake. Disk brakes are hydrolic, therefore, you must have an internal drum that is mechanical for the cable connected to the E-brake.

wow sounds like we all have the same issue with the ebrake. Mine has issues holding on steep hills and I need to make an appointment to get it fixed. I wonder how many others are having this problem.

Mine is weak, as well. Sounds like it's time for a driveline brake.
