Hello again - hopefully a quick question here - will the front and rear suspension components of a 2021 4Runner (5th gen) fit a 2007 GX470? I found a sweet deal on MarketPlace - $100 for everything, and they only have about 2000 miles on them. I'm not going for a lift - just a comfy ride vs. leaking and bouncing rear air bags. I plan to get a conversion kit for the rear air suspension and use the springs here. Obviously, a huge wallet-saver, so if they could fit - that would be excellent. I read something about the 5th gen Runners having a 14mm lower shock bolt, and the GX470s having a 12mm, so I'd need an adapter to get a good fit (basically a bushing with a 14mm OD and a 12mm ID x whatever length is needed. My only concern is that the shocks/struts are too long or short and cannot be installed properly. Just checking to see if this is possible, or if I need to sell a kidney to buy new parts.

As always - I very much appreciate your insight.

Of course, you're using a Metal-tech 4x4 rear conversion kit.....:). (in stock w/ free shipping and 100% US Made)

The Prado 120 and 150 suspension is the same in the rear. The front struts vary a little, but not by the lower mounting bolt. It's the spacing of the tabs that the lower strut bushing fits between. The 150 is slightly wider than the 120. So a 120 strut into 150 bolts right up as the tabs just bend slightly inward. For your 120, you must remove some material (not much) on each side of the inner steel bushing of the lower strut mount until it drops in.

FYI, the difference from 120 to 150 lower strut mount is so small that most aftermarket performance suspension systems are all made to 120 specs. (Radflo, ICON etc)

*as for what part of the 150 is bigger on the front suspension its in two places. #1 the lower cross bolt for the lower control arm to the frame, these are larger in diameter. #2 is the outer and inner tie rod where they thread together, the 150 is 1mm thicker.

Wow - incredible information there - thank you! A Metal-Tech conversion kit is definitely happening...is there by chance a promo code for IH8MUD patrons? I had to...

Your last comment about the differences on the front struts for the 120 vs. 150 outside of grinding down the lower metal bushing that goes into the tabs - please forgive my ignorance here - what modifications would I need to make to get them to fit? Is there a conversion kit available? Responding months later I did not see the follow-up question. A different person contacted Metal-tech 4x4 Customer Support, referencing this post and asking for the same follow-up questions.

First, Metal-tech 4x4 will always try to help anyone, even if they have not purchased from us. So, we are putting this link to the answer on our blog so it can reach more people.

This blog explains why, after 12+yrs, we 100% redesigned the rear airbag conversion kit for GXs to the 2.0 version that is made today.
Why the 2.0 on the Metal-tech 4x4 GX airbag conversion kits?

Note: This question is also backlinked from the MT4x4 site as well.
