Question to those that upgraded to GX460/2010-2013 4R front brake calipers and rotors on their 470. I understand that this is a straight swap but wanted to know if you had to replace the brake dust shield as well? Also the mounting bracket (saddle?) is stock (470)? TIA!

I did this and did not need to replace the dust shield or mounting bracket. If I’m recalling correctly, they just bolted right up. My front caliper was seized, so it made sense to swap them in. I don’t think it really made much braking difference, but is supposed to help with warping I believe.

No other part beside caliper and rotor. The pads are the same but you should replace it when you replace rotor anyway.

The piston from 2010+ have 14% larger area. This will provide higher clamping pressure but you need to move 14% more fluid.

The better braking feel comes from different pad material. Hawk LTS or Akebono Performance Ceramic seems to have good review from people that had it.

yup, just ordered the toyota 4runner calipers, rotors and pads. thought about akebono's or hawk's pads but gonna stick with oem for now. thanks all!

I also did all OEM. No other parts needed. Mine is a 09 I don’t know if earlier years had any differences.

Is the 2016-2020 460 caliper the same as the 2010-2015 460 caliper as an upgrade for the 470? I know that they have different part numbers on the lexus oem shop.

2016+ will not fit. You need to get the 2010-2015 calipers

What does everyone recommend as far as rotors go? I have a pair of Centric calipers I scored off Amazon for really cheap. Pads will probably be Akebono Performance Ceramic or OEM (undecided).

I have had good luck so far with the Raybestos R3 coated rotors and the akebono pads. Bedded quickly, no noise, low dust. The rotors have an anti corrosion coating. I live in the south, so this may be different in other areas. The rotors still look new 6 months after install.
