CLC,

The roll bar will be painted and bolted in by this weekend. Cutting and fitting the backing plates was a big deal due to the drains in the floor that I didn't want to plug-up. I hope to have the new thermostat in as well. Then I need to bleed the brakes since I finished the rear cylinders and shoes.

Greg and I are rebuilding the front knuckles and hubs on 5/6-7. Then I will finish the axle breathers.

The CB (Cobra 19 DX IV) I bought on EBay will be here by Thursday. I still need to get an antenna. Thinking a 3 to 4' black fiberglass with cable and bracket from the Pilot truck stop. Any other suggestions? Mount it where?

I still need a CO2 fire extinguisher. Where can I get one that is size appropriate? All the ones at Wal-Mart are either huge or tiny.

Planning on swiping the OEM Toyota First Aid Kit out of Amanda's Sienna van! HEHEHE

The oil in the 2F, diffs, T-Case and Tranny have been changed in the last 200 miles. I'm thinling I may need to at least have a spare fuel filter. The Dist cap, rotor, points and plugs were changed less than 1500 miles ago by the PO which was 2.5 years ago and before the carb rebuild and header install. I guess I'll at least check them for wear. Spares needed??

What am I forgetting?? Does anyone bring spare parts to sell? I have a few.

Does anyone have a packing list? What gear/supplies/food do I need? How many coolers of beer are sufficient? I have a big 2-room tent that is a few months old and only used once.

Thanks for the advice.

Oh yeah, anyone have a spare trailer, tow bar, or tow rig?? Still looking...

LMK what size fire ext you want. I have a tennant that sells them for a living. Do you want a bracket?

Tractor Supply is a good source also. And Ace Hardware. And Mr. Slumlord's boarders. :)

Go to Wally world and get a fire ext. (About 8" tall) I used the plastic mounting bracket that came with it. Don't say anything, it's been on there since 2000. I got my antenna from Radis shack.

Later,

The gun runner rolled out of my house this afternoon with a working cooling system. Broke 3 bolts off changing the thermostat, including one in the head.

I think everything is ready to roll. The Dr looked over the ignition system and gave his stamp of aproval.

LETS ROLL!!

Did yall get the guages in?

We (The Dr - John with me watching) got the gauges in with only the oil pressure set up to work. The temp will have to wait. As I drove home it went from 40 to 35 to around 30. This was hwy driving with my spedo showing 50-52 mph. So I figure I was doing 60-65 and getting passed like I was standing still!?!? Any long term issues there? Will it hold up for the trip?

Greg and John did an expert job with the thermostat housing and all the grief it caused. When I thought all was lost, they kept comming up with great solutions. No more working on the GunRunner on Friday the 13th!

So it now has:

Warn 8274 Winch
Mini Truck Power Steering
2.5" Rough Country lift springs with Heckethorn Nitro Shocks
BFG 33 x 10.50 MTs (5)
Metal-Tech-Cage
Aussie Locker
Rear brake cylinders and shoes
Rear axle seals
Front knuckle rebuild
New Thermostat with "Pre Smog" housing and custom hardware!!!!
Oil Pressure and Temp Gauges
Tuned by The Dr

LETS ROLL

GSMTR OR BUST (literally)

You are forbidden to BUST! Stay positive. The oil pressure is fine. Just keep an eye on it as I'm sure you will. Check the oil at every stop for gas which will be quite often. Ha! Call me if you need anything before you leave. We'll be bringing up the rear on Wed. We're gonna try to catch yall!

Later,

Bring IT!

You boys be careful and drink a case or two for me.
