Gretchen's Announcement
by tammylynn » Fri May 11, 2012 10:25 am

In order to curb the inevitable rumor mill, we would like to make a formal announcement to the clubs regarding a recent development with Gretchen’s. As many of you know, Gretchen has been actively seeking a buyer for her property for the last couple of years. We explored the option of leasing the property as an Association but for whatever the reasons, the delegates did not feel comfortable moving forward with the idea at the time. Gretchen has been approaching/working with a few private parties who were interested in purchasing the property and has been “interviewing” those parties to see who would have the best fit for her terms of sale. One condition she had was that the property would remain open for use by the NEA4WDC and she was working /interviewing a few interested parties who have affiliations with the NEA4WDC.

As of this past week, we can officially announce and congratulate the future new owners, Bob and Liza Siwinski! I know there will be many questions and concerns with regard to our future access to the property. Let me first say that we will address questions specifically related to our access. We will not address questions regarding anything to do with the business transaction of the sale because that is a private matter between Bob, Liza, and Gretchen! If you wish to approach Bob or Liza privately with questions, I am sure they would be willing to discuss them with you!

I have spoken with Bob and Liza to express my concerns and get an understanding of their intentions. I understand they will need to run Gretchen’s in more of an efficient manner so as to make their investment profitable to them. We have been assured that there may be some changes into the methodology of scheduling for the future and what not, but overall, our access to the property will not be hindered and there shouldn't be any changes to the current schedule for 2012. Keep in mind that Bob and Liza have just as much invested into our sport as anyone so their goal is not to remove the opportunity for us to continue wheeling there and once the shock and awe factor settles, everyone should realize this will benefit us to have owners who are knowledgeable about what we do and what we need. Scott Hatch is in communication with Liza regarding his role of continuing as the Project Manager and at this time we feel comfortable that his role will continue but since Bob and Liza are no strangers to most of the community, we no longer really need him to act as a ‘contact liaison’ as we have needed with Gretchen.

I am confident Bob and/or Liza will bring their comments forward but we felt it best to begin with a formal announcement to dispel any rumors, wrong perceptions, etc. I hope you will join us in congratulating them for stepping up and keeping a well-loved piece of property in our community to enjoy for years to come!

Booo I don't like it.

I think Bob and Liza will do a great job

Justin and I spent the last work day @ Gretchen's w/ Bob, Liza and Gretchen cutting and hauling wood and also clearing brush at the entrance.
I spoke w Gretchen many times that day and this is her 35th year in a row doing work on the property.
The new ownwers will bring lots of energy to the place and keep it around for many years to come.

Bob and Liza are not new to the "Wheeling Community" and will contribute lots of experience to their new investment.

Congratulations to Bob & Liza, Thank you for securing this property for many years to come.

For those of you that don't know Bob & Liza here's their website;http://summitcrawlers.com/forums/
also they are very active in the NEA.

This is an awesome fit for the property.
Knowing both Bob and Liza in the 4WD community for years I am more than comfortable.

I knew Gretchen would sell this year and the concern of the future of the Fall Gathering was at a all time high.

I feel very at ease now.

Wow! Should be interesting!

This is the exact opposite of "Booo."

Bob and Liza are a GREAT fit as new ownership, they are PART of our sport!! They will bring stability to an ownership situation that was a constant concern.I think this is an extremely positive turn of events.

Congratulations to all involved.

I've delt with Liza at the NEA when getting insurance for the Fall Gathering. If the property was being sold I'm happy that it went to people who understand the sport.

I work for a sign company if they need one, I can hook em up
