So I'm back in the market for a LC, and my neighbor is selling her '04 GX470. I test drove it today, and the air suspension is dead. I'm pricing out what needs to be repaired if I buy this vehicle, so any cheap and good kits are appreciated. I'm not looking for a crazy lift either, maybe ~1in/25mm. Thanks.

Are your wanting shocks and springs, keep the airbags, replace the airbags??

As far as shocks with the OEM air bags, I had good results with the Rancho Leveling Kit (use the 4Runner the same year) and their 9000 adjustable shocks (manually) all around. Lifts the front about 1.5". It looks good too. They worked well with the stock air bags. Yes, you will lose the in cab ability to adjust the shocks. Rancho does offer an in cab adjustment option, which is blue tooth I believe, but it is very expensive. But, you can dial in your ride comfort and handling to your taste by getting under the truck a few times. Also, these are heavy duty oil shocks with large pistons and offer a very smooth ride.

Rancho does not have a shock for use with a 2"+ lift. When I lifted and did the spring conversion I went to ICON and lost some ride quality with the gas shocks. BTW: the Rancho system is not cheap but a great value IMO. There are other good options as well and others can chime in. I loved my TJM Gold Tigers adjustable on my 80 series but I am not sure if they are importing from Australia for the LC Prado which should work. They were not at the time of my purchase.

For 1" I would look at stock 4runner rear springs with a rear coil conversion kit that has spacers, and stock front springs. Bilstien 5100 shocks with the front at 1 notch up.

Upgrade from that would be OME springs with 5100 shocks.
