I have been a long time GPS owner. I have had several unites even one that I could load topo maps on.
I recently picked up a Garmin GPS III from EBay for 65 bucks and I have to say this thing is cool.
I loaded 4 years of hunting data, trails and back roads I have explored from my Topo maps. My old GPS (Navman PDA combo) would crash regularly. I lost many miles in data from the frequent crashes. I have been using my "New" Garmin now for two weeks and it has yet to crash or lose data.
Tonight I loaded some tracks from last weekend, and then converted it to Google Earth to send to a friend that I went wheeling with. It was totally cool to see it in Topo and Google and be able to send the rout we took to a friend.
I am loving the GPS it is allowing me to store and send several new routs and trails.
I plan on getting lots of use out of this set up.
