Any suggestions for good day trip runs from Kelowna? Although I'm a "it's all about the journey" guy, my wife would appreciate a nice lake, views, abandoned buildings, etc at the end of the line. We have been so busy with reno's/work that it'd be nice to get away from everything if we find the time. I really haven't been able to hit the dirt much at all so chances are any ideas are new to me.

Thanks guys!

Chute lake to Naramata. Go early in the morning and breakfast in Penticton.

Summerland to Princenton but drive the KVR as much a possible. Carry on through Tulameen and lunch at Merritt.

Penticton to Highway 33. South to Rock Creek for Lunch. A stop at Home Hardware in Osooyos - BOTH of you will lose and hour in that store.

Trepanier to Vernon. Lunch at O Keefe Ranch ( Sunday brunch is killer)

None of these are hard core - just nice back country with a decent meal at the end

A couple more, but they are a full day.

Into the Christian Valley via the 201 off the Big white road, then north through to hwy6 and west through Vernon and home.

Same thing but the next valley east, up the Granby from Grand forks all the way to Hwy6 and home through Vernon

North alongside Mabel lake and out near Three Valley gap, some cool old logging history in the area, then home via Sicamous-Mara lake.

A couple of shorter but more challenging loops are Summerland north by Darke lake and out in Peachland

Up to Sunset on the connector and over Pennask Mnt and back to peacland (we did this a couple of years ago with Gofast and Wecruz) Nice vista from the top of Pennask.

A decent GPS with some up to date Topo is huge asset, I have found with more and more "quad tour" companies using the back roads it is easy to get on the wrong trail, but hey, if you are not getting lost every once in a while your not doing it right....LOL.

For old buildings and turn of the century mining towns you would be better off to head a little further east. Nakusp, Meadow Creek, Trout lake,
Kaslo , Slocan and these areas have some very cool history. Do a tiny bit of reading before you go and you will have a great adventure. Not day trips though, these are weekenders.
