How much “earl” goes in this contraption?

Took me longer than I want to admit to find the level mark on mine.

The answer is not much. Maybe a quart?

We are cutting through Jackson in route to visit family for Thanksgiving while I’m on leave. I’d love to stop by but not sure the wife would be down for adding another hour or so to an already long trek!

Pulled my seat out to see if my sending unit is leaking and it’s not.

Maybe I have a seep in a seal like I had before but I can’t see any wetness causing the smell.

I decided to live with it and broke the leg off my seat putting it back in.

Lovely.

Now I’m going to have to look a little closer. That was the Cruiser Gods telling me to slow down and do it right.

Looks like it’s broken before. See the line where the paint was ground off the leg?

Found the leak. Same seam as before. I’m going to add another layer of Permatex fuel tank repair.

But I’m also going to line the tank area with Noico before it goes back in.

You could just put an end to this and buy the 72' FJ40 tank from Toyota.

Does a 72 fit? I was under the impression the 67 was an 18 gallon tank and different. Had I known that I’d have spent that $500 with @beno a year ago

I like me a fine fresh tank yo

I used red coat on my aux tank. Cleaning it was a pita. Then used acetone to get the excess water out b4 coating.

Mine seeps at the weld around the end. The putty held up good in other spots. I’m thinking this spot was rubbing on the tub.

I’m going to add the Noico and lay some strips under it like oem to keep it isolated from rubbing.

I don't know if it fits the 67' as well as it fit my 78', maybe @Whitey can answer that question. It fits and works well in my 78'

I believe the 1972+ tank has a different neck, meaning you'll need the matching rubber elbow to suit. Definitely strips of rubber to space it off the floor! But not too thick, maybe 2mm or you'll run into the seat on the other side.

The neck of the 72' was correct for my 78' and appears to be the same as the 67' which is why I recommend it .
