BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!
Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,
Gila National Forest To Hold Public Workshops On Route Designation For Motorized Use
The Gila National Forest, located in southwestern New Mexico, will be hosting a series of Travel Management workshops during the month of September. The meetings will take place in several communities in and around the forest, including Las Cruces, and are a follow-up to meetings and open houses held in 2006.
The purpose of the workshops is to provide an opportunity for the public to review a draft proposal of the designations and provide input to the Forest. Anyone interest in motorized vehicle use on the National Forest is encouraged to attend one of these workshops.
The Forest is seeking input that will assist in improving the draft proposal for a designated motorized system. Maps and tables of the draft proposal will be available for review at the workshops. The Forest will also provide information on the Travel Management Rule and the Forest designation process, which includes public input received since the first meetings in 2006.
Information to be presented at the workshops will be posted on the Forest website beginning in early September: http://www2.srs.fs.fed.us/r3/gila/. The website will allow individuals and organizations an opportunity to obtain information and provide public input on the draft proposal, plus allow sufficient time to review prior to the workshop.
