Hi gang
I'm thinking of doing some driving/camping in the Gila National Forest. I haven't been there in 20 years and the last time I went, I was mostly doing backpacking. Wondering if anyone had a recommended loop or route in the forest? I'll be coming from the East. The ranger confirmed that they are open and sent me several maps but the Gila is such a vast space that I was hoping someone had some recommendations for me. Thanks in advance. Tub

If you haven’t been there in 20 years, you may be disappointed as much of the high country has burned. I can’t remember the road numbers, but the Mogollon to Snow Lake then Down to the Mimbres is a nice, desolate backcountry loop

...hopefully you are not planning on doing that trip with the current situation.
