Is there a FAQ somewhere on The FJ60+ series somewhere?
I have the dumb idea that it'd be fun to buy a diesel or 350 powered FJ60 (1,2?) out west and spend some time driving it back east. Or find one east and use it as a camping rig. I've got some basic questions...
Parts. Are parts still easy to find for these? Like wheel bearings, brakes and rotors, general wear items, etc? RockAuto only carries the inline 6 engine parts. Where do you order diesel parts from? Engine oil and fuel filters, air filters, etc.
Are all diesel cruisers 24volt?
What do you guys with 350ci V8s see for mileage? I guess that depends on the transmission, auto vs 4/5 gear manuals.
How reliable are the 350 conversions?
Is there a good repair manual for these? What types/viscosity oils are used in the engine/transmission/diff/etc.
Is there a good how-to out there to do the basic maintenance on them? What needs replacing and when? What tends to go wrong with them, and how to fix them? This site could use a couple of stickied threads like that. Maybe I just haven't come across them yet. I'm not an idiot, but I've never worked on a Land Cruiser before. I've rebuilt older Alfa Romeos and motorcycle engines, so I do know some stuff. Looking forward to learning more about these trucks.
