Gearing and Wheel Question...

Hi I am a newbie here and have a question on my truck...

I have a 1999 tacoma 4x4 ext cab 2.7L that came with the steel wheels and the smaller tires (225). I need to replace the tires and have an opportunity to get a fairly (very fairly) new set of american racing wheels with 31x12.5x15 with pro comp Mud terrains on them...for the price of a new set of "just tires". My sticker says its geared as a B02...will these boog my truck down too much...will I notice the difference is speed and mpg? I would like to lift it 3" this summer.

According to the B (8" ring gear) 02 (3.58:1), you will have a dog. You will notice loss of power and mpg drop. So at this juncture you have two options. Spend the dough to get it regeared, or get the bigger tires and live with the guttless gasper.

Usually you can find stock 4.10s, on ttora. Hell, I even have a set for the rear. But you need to double check with your axle code gear ratio..

coincidently your post would be applicable to 90 series as well (same diffs). What size tire do you intend to run?
