Hi everyone;

Throwing this to the group for some advice. I have a new camper trailer, came from S Africa where their selection of gas whether methane propane butane etc could be a factor. But their regulator wouldnt fit out US gas bottles, so I got a gas regulator on amazon and tied it into the gas hose to the stove.

Gas bottles are brand new, and FULL!

When I use the stove its fine on one burner, but when I use two, the other sometimes goes out completely, or if theres even a hint of wind (which their always is when outside) it will go out. Sometimes both went out. I tried putting up flame shields, it didnt do much. I kept having to push down the gas button to hear the gas and relight it, then many times I would release the button, only for the flame to go out. Obviously I cant keep holding my finger on the gas knob to keep the stove lit. It was driving me nuts.
Compared to my JetBoil Genesis this thing comes across as it sucks!

Would really like to get it to work. Any advice on whats the best gas regulator out there????

When I had to replace my propane camping stove's gas regulator, I had to match the new regulator's PSI pressure rating with the old regulator's PSI rating. Wondering if your new regulator's pressure rating is too low to support dual-burners. If possible, I would suggest comparing the two pressure numbers.

just adjust the regulator, sometimes you have to remove a plug or cover but it can be done.

"...trailer... came from S Africa where their selection of gas whether methane propane butane etc could be a factor..."

This may say it all right here. Does the stove have adjustments for the types of gas it might be using? I would look into that.

Case in point, we have a fairly ancient Wedgewood range, and when we had our kitchen remodeled, I hauled it out to the back porch and hooked it up to a propane tank. It has adjustable jets and you can also optimize the air for a good flame, whichever gas you're using. Old school, baby!

In the US there are generally two different pressures that the regulators allow, a low pressure and a high pressure. The high pressure regulators are marked with a red painted top piece. Might try getting one of those (they're less common than the low pressure regulators). The difference in pressure is enough that I'm not sure that you can adjust a low pressure regulator high enough. I believe it needs a different spring.
