I am selling my trusty little companion. My Garmin GPS III Plus comes with an external power adapter for the cigarette lighter, pc cable for downloading/uploading maps, points, routes and tracks, dash mount, original box, manual and quick reference. I had this mounted in the dash of my 80 but was given a higher-end unit. This unit is backlit in a green color that perfectly matches an 80's dash lights and has a wonderful voltage indicator which is great for monitoring a second or primary battery to 1/10 of a volt, this feature is non-existing on newer units. Another nice thing about this unit is that it fits perfectly in an 80's unmodified dash if you remove the center air conditioning vent and wedge it between the plastic frame. The bezel with the clock mounts nicely over the GPS for a clean factory look or you could use the included dash mount but I never really missed the A/C vent when it was mounted behind the bezel. An external antenna is necessary for in-dash mounting but not for mounting on the dash. The unit has been back to Garmin to have the internal memory battery replaced and also has the latest GPS III Plus software and firmware. It is also waterproof. If someone on this board buys this unit I will include copies of the topo map software that I have that works with this GPS. This thing is in great condition and will be a nice addition to any cruiser.

I wanted to offer this deal to my Landcruiser friends before Ebay!

$200. PM if interested

Pics of it installed?

very interested. I would also like to see pics of its condition.

thank you,
david

I have a second power outlet wired to my second battery mounted about four inches under the rear defroster switch that you can see just to the left of the shifter at the bottom of the last photo with the green led button. The GPS was plugged into this switched outlet so whenever I wanted a reading of voltage I could turn on the outlet and power-up the GPS. The condition of the GPS is nearly perfect!
