Found this nifty well built quick oil drain valve for my VW Beetle and they have applications for almost anything to include Landcruisers. They are made in Japan and very nice and tightly built, I need to find out the thread size on my 83' BJ42 and I will install on it as well. Check it out.

We had a discussion on these once before.
Two reasons I wont get one.
1 Ive never found undoing the plug a big chore
2 I dont like anything hanging down lower than necessary on a 4X4

yes its not overly hard to undo one plug. Maybe if i had a pan thread on the way out id think about one, but thats about it.

CanadianCrzr brought up something similiar awhile back from what I have read.
Now I don't find it hard at all to undo the oil drain plug.
I know on the 3Bs and I dont know about the 2Hs that the oil is definitely pressurized and likes to spray coming out of the drain hole making the potential for mess fairly easy.
The 1hz and 1hd-t are really easy to do and its never a mess from my experience.

How can the oil be pressurized with a 1/2" crankcase vent open to atmosphere?

Gravity, yes but pressure, no. Solution, get as big of a pan as possible. 11+ liters tends to come out with a bit of force. I bathed the driveway and myself a couple times before I coughed up for a very large circular pan.

sh** i thought I found something good, lol. Yeah doing the oil change on it is fairly pain free and where the plug comes out is canted a bit, I used to own an onsite oil change company so have seen much harder applications compared to my 3B, even with new drain plug and gasket from Toyota mine still drips a little oil from plug, not much at all but a little, its definatley going on my VW beetle though.

thanks fellas

i ran one for years on an old chevy, no issues, but it had a side plug hole, so it didn't hang down
