Just curious on this. I was wondering what the internal pressure of the fuel tank would be when running? I can't expect it would be much over atmospheric pressure, right?
The reason I ask is I pressure tested my tank up to 11 psi and it was leak free. In short, I'm wondering if the internal pressure of the tank while operating won't be greater than 11 psi?

Should exceed that at all or even get close.

11psi is what some radiator caps blow off at. Thats not cool in a fuel tank.

Chop Shop,
Is that SHOULD, or SHOULD NOT???

if it has a vent then it should be the same as outside pressure

LOL....Yes it does!
I COMPLETELY forgot about that detail!!!

Thanks!!!

Yeah ya caught a typo, its supposed to be SHOULD NOT.

Normal atmospheric pressure is what it should be if the vent is working correctly.

Sorry.

Lol... Figured that was what you meant, but.... There is a big difference between should and shouldn't re. This particular question.

So... how did you pressure test it to 11psi then? have you not installed a vent and rollover valve yet?

Capped all ports off and filled it w/ air. No. I have not installed the vent tube and roll over valve yet.
I used an in tank pump that has the ports for vent, supply and return all off of the pump assy. It slipped my mind that one of those ports is a vent line. I wanted to do a final check for leaks before I painted it and installed it.

I made a fuel cap yesterday with a quick connect instead of a vent.

I will keep it in my ammo box on board. I used it to hook my onboard air to my fuel cell/keg and with regulated air at 40 psi it ran the efi great.

I would never recommend this with a fuel TANK or CELL. My keg is plenty able to handle 40 psi till I get back to the trailer if needed. Just an extra piece of mind.
