Good day,
I have a 1999 fj95 series prado with the illuminated instrument panel and twice now, I notice that while driving, the fuel gauge drops slowly down to empty and the fuel light comes on.After the engine remains on for 10-15mins (either at idle or driving), the needle will slowly start rising back up to normal level.
Can you say what is causing this, how common it is and what I can do to fix it please?

Much appreciate any help.....

So I did some research and spoke with the mechanic. Research indicated that the fuel sending unit seems to not be grounded off properly seeing as the needle doesn't jump or fluctuate; it just goes down slowly and goes back up after a while. The mechanic says there's a way to reach it from inside the trunk area, as to avoid dropping out the fuel tank.

Therefore my new question is.....
how to access this entry point?
does this theory as to the problem seem logical?

thanks...

I think its not much easy and if you have proper knowledge then you can check the gauge. First, make sure that there isn't corrosion on the wire connections and that they are secure. If your gauge indicator stays on empty when you turn on the ignition, you'll need to check the fuse.so better bring it to garage.
