I have a set of factory soft top doors I need a little help with putting together. I have the frames, weatherstripping, skins, and channels ready to go and thy are already painted. I got quoted by my upholstery guy $250 to put everything together, but I'd like to try it on my own with a little advice. I also have instructions from SOR I just don't wanna screw anything up. Anyone here in dfw want to help me out for a few extra bucks or a case of beer? PM or email me at beau_parker@mac.com. Any weekday after 4:30 is good for me.
Thanks
Beau

Beau, Like attaching the material to the door frame an extra pair of hands? Mike

Yeah for sure and I have to assemble all of the weatherstripping. Not really sure how to do the vent wing part of that. Also not really sure on what adhesive to use to attach the skins onto the frame.

It's worth every bit of $250.00. I have everything done to mine except the outside weatherstripping. Getting it into that channel is frustrating and painful. I seem to be averaging about a foot a month. I should be finished in a couple of years.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Thanks! I'm sending you a pm

Shoot nuclearlemon a PM. Ige wrote-up a TT article on rebuilding FST doors...she'll definately know what adhesive works best.

Well I got the skins on and the channels installed, but I'm throwing in the towel on the weatherstripping and taking it to a pro.

I've got one side of the w/s in one channel in three days. It's a serious chore. There has to be an easy trick but I'm over it.

:D

That's pretty much where I stopped on mine.

Let me know if you find a good deal on the stripping install.

Well after two different shops, I'm going to pick up the finished doors today. Hope it goes well, pics to come...

Done and done! I think I found my upholstery guy for the rest of my time. Outer weatherstripped both doors for only $75. I would have gone insane trying to do this. He literally had to inch his way through the channels with a screwdriver. Great guy and very knowledgeable about cruisers; wasn't his first rodeo. I will attach a pic of his card.
