Stealership was unhelpful. They charged me $170 to tell me the ac drain and sunroof drains were fine (which I checked already). Wanted another 170 to look at the aftermarket windshield.

I sprayed my car with water and took off the bottom plastic over the HVAC unit on the front passenger side. You can see the water directly dripping down from there after I sprayed my car. What’s the next best course of action? Should I take it to an independent windshield shop to see if it’s the windshield? If they say they can’t for sure say it’s the windshield but recommend redoing the seal should I just do it anyway? The black trim/seal around the windshield seems to be prying up near the top anyway.

Or should I take it to a reputable independent shop and have them investigate further? The downside to this option is they may very well just say it’s the windshield and I’d waste even more time figuring out this problem.

Anyone see their leaks come from this area?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Can’t wait to figure this out so I can dump money into the fun parts.

Have you tried spraying down just the windshield and not the sunroof? Try that and see if you have water ingress. If not, then try spraying near just the sunroof and check again. The other thing to check are the roof rail bolts, they can leak into the cab if not sealed properly.

Yup, I sprayed just the windshield (I think some got on the roof) and saw it leaking underneath directly. Is there some sort of AC fresh air intake that could be improperly sealed under the hood? I saw on other types of cars this could be an issue. I have also poured water directly down the sunroof drains and it drained appropriately out of the car so I dont think it's the sunroof.

I don’t know much about the AC air intake. Since you spray the windshield area that leads to the leaking and have an aftermarket windshield, then my first guess would be an improper windshield install.

If you want to confirm from top of windshield pull off the "Oh Sxxx Handle" on front passenger side.

That entire trim piece is held on by the screws that secure the handle. Once screws are removed...just pull handle straight in toward center of vehicle and that whole piece will come off.

You won't disturb the airbag that is in there but you can easily see if things are wet or water trickling in there if you do another hose test.

I know schematic shows it separated but if you remove those two bolts it still remains attached to the pillar garnish.
