Hello all. First LC and I am trying to diagnose my heater issue and did not see this exact symptom. I don't have weak front heat, because when it actually does kick on its working. I did find this thread and will continue problem solving but wanted to see if anyone had any additional advice or thoughts.
I bought a 98 rhd 100 with the factory Cooler in center console, and rear system earlier this year. (not sure if that ads any complications to the system from a standard usdm non cooler since its AC operated)
Truck blows Ice cold ac/ heat also functions as it should( in rear). The front heat is intermittent. Sometimes it works right after startup/warm up and is very strong (most noticeably if I have done some bouncing around my parents 60 acres, mostly field crawling in east TN with decent elevation changes and fun little banks and climbs on grass) 10 minute drive there, let car sit for several hours, start it up and drive around the farm for a sec then 10 mins back home, full heat no problem, feet upper vents at dash. Other times I can't get any heat at all from the front system 10-40 minute drives with no heat even if its warmed up. Drove to Nashville a few weeks ago , had heat any time I put it on headed to Nashville, coming home a day later no amount of button smashing, combo change made it work.
So I pulled the dash and cleaned the little temp sensor, Removed the climate connectors, and no real change after that.
I am wondering if there is anything else to quickly diagnose which direction I might need to head next.
Both Hoses get warm/hot at firewall. Coolants were flushed this year but I am thinking its in the electronics at front climate controls or something maybe floating in the system?
When it works it works great. Rear always has good hot air at floor.
