JJ- they make a 'collar' called a Halti lead. It goes around the nose and back of the head, NO dog will pull when wearing it.

We put them on our dogs in the winter. Last year we had an unfortunate 'skiing' accident when they saw a squirrel and pulled my wife (on her back) across a road and a lawn....

Anyway, back to the 80. Got to looking at it in the driveway tonight. It needs a lift BAD. Broached the subject with the wifey again. She didn't say NO immediately.

I might be wearing her down!

Muhahahahah!

Looks good.

What made you decide to go with the Firestone Destination M/T?

Just curious, since I just put my lift on, and now I need new tires.

Survey people on Tirerack.com seemed to like them.

Actually, that WAS the deciding factor. Kind of.

I was torn between the Dueller Revo and the Destination M/T. Both had awesome ratings on the Tirerack.com website- both were available locally so I didn't have to pay a shipping fee.

Ultimately it came down to price ( the M/T's were about $30 a tire cheaper) and frankly, looks. The Dueler Revo's look like your average SUV tire, the M/T's odviously are a bit beefier. I want to give the 80 a bit of a harder edge than a soccer mom truck. I'm not there yet, but with the help of Mr. Slee and ARB, hopefully soon.

I would proboboly get more miles out of the Revo's and they would probobly be better in the snow and ice of winter too......

Just a little update.

Took the truck out for a run last night, mainly because the guy that installed the tires said that they'd be super loud on the freeway at speed.

These tires are as quiet as my nearly bald OE michelins were. They are certainly more stiff, and give the truck an overall more solid feel in the corners. The OE michelin's would definately flex more, leading to a more unsafe feeling in the corners. Not flogging through the corners mind you, just normal driving.

I've been told that they will get lounder as they wear in, but for the first real street test, they are nicely quiet. I'm very impressed.

If you keep a pretty tight rotation schedule you won't really ever get any noise problems. Where you'll start to hear it is when all the lugs aren't the same height. Rotation keeps that to a minimum. Like every 2500-3000 miles. Good time to check all the bearings and stuff too. ;)

Firestones - Destination MTs

Are you using these tires on a daily driver? I am thinking about putting them on my LC.

Thanks,

Yes, they are on my wifey's DD. They are still pretty quiet!

The tread design is Swamper-esque. Have you tried them in the mud yet?

Not much. Not deep enough to matter anyway.

General offroading is much better than the OE tires it came with. (odviously)
