Doing a provincial inspection today on a BJ-42 that had a lot of free play at the steering wheel.Owner said this was normal as person he purchased the truck from said the truck had"Trail Steering" After finding lots of slack where the drag link connects to steering box some dissasembly revealed Four cdn pennys stuffed in behind the adjustment nut to take up the slack!!Hopefully the rest of the truck hasn,t been fixed in the same fashion!

That old trick, just done wrong.

could put a peny behind the inner most cup and one in front the the adjuster screw.

Four in front will do nothing but bottom out.

Guess fixing it the right way for 40 bucks is not as important as his life.

Two pennies was the original fix ala Toyota Trails in it's black and white days AFAIR. Lore was if it cost you more then a few pennies it was time to buck up and replace...
