Forest Service Road Use Maps

I am in the process of compiling all of the available U.S. Forest Service Road Use Maps for Montana into a single location on my google drive. These maps are available on the Forest Service website in .PDF. This day in age almost everyone (except for me, I am still a flip phone hold out) has smart phones that can view .PDF files. I usually carry my Ipad with me and i have all of these maps downloaded. Now I know this should be no replacement for the real deal paper maps, this is at least better then nothing. And after going through the effort, I thought, why not share? I believe that I have most of Montana covered, certainly all of SW Montana.

Thanks for sharing. I have an Android app on my phone and tablet called "Avenza Maps" which you can use to load in those pdf maps and it will show you your current location (using your devices's built in GPS) on that particular map. You can also use it to add waypoints and track your trip (although I no longer use that app for tracking my trips, I've moved on to a more robust app for that task). But, for being a free app and having some nice features, it's just one more tool. Might be available for Apple products, but not sure.

I miss the old maps. Here is a road, if you are stuck then the road is closed to you. A single track trail could not be expanded to a two track.

Now:
Rule #1- If the road you are on or are looking for is not on the map then it is closed to all motorized vehicles.
Rule #2- All roads DO NOT have to be barricaded or posted in any way. You must have one of there maps, just like the hunting regs.
Most (public) US Forest Service roads will be closed December 1 - June 15
The most common fine I have heard of being issued, $240.00
