Date: 05/11/2010 BLUERIBBON COALITION LANDUSE UPDATE!

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest has released their Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Combined Travel Management Project for the Mountain City, Ruby Mountains, and Jarbidge Ranger Districts located in northeast Nevada. The Forest Service (FS) will be accepting comments on the DEIS during a 45-day comment period, which began with the publication of the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register on May 7, 2010, and will end June 21, 2010.

The travel plans at issue will dictate where and when motorized vehicles will be permitted. Bottom line: if its not on the map - its closed!

We encourage OHV users to carefully view the maps on each alternative and provide comment to the Forest Service. Identify which Alternative you prefer and also what roads and trails need to be open. Specific comments are the most effective.

The DEIS is available in several formats. A CD copy of the DEIS and maps can be requested from the Forest Service Offices in Elko, Wells, or Sparks, Nevada. Hard copies of the DEIS are available in very limited supply and include a CD of the maps. The DEIS and maps are also available online at any of the following Forest Service websites: http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/htnf/projects/#mountaincity,
http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/htnf/projects/#rubymountain and http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/htnf/projects/#jarbidge

Hard copies of the DEIS and maps are available for viewing at the Forest Service offices in Elko, Wells, and Sparks, NV; Elko County offices in Elko, NV; Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley offices in Owyhee, NV; Te-Moak Tribal offices in Elko, NV; Jarbidge Fire Station, and, Public libraries in Elko and Wells, NV.

Comments on the DEIS can be submitted in a variety of ways.

Written or facsimile comments should be sent to Forest Service Travel Plan, 2035 Last Chance Road, Elko, Nevada 89801; FAX (775) 778-6167; or hand-deliver comments to the above address during normal business hours from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

Email comments to: comments-intermtn-humboldt-toiyabe-mtncity@fs.fed.us or
comments-intermtn-humboldt-toiyabe-rubymtns-jarbidge@fs.fed.us.

Oral comments must be provided at the Forest Service Offices in Elko, Wells, or Sparks, Nevada, during normal business hours.
