Do a search on the Rodney flush. I just did it and it took me 18 quarts of ATF. That was a complete passive flush of the system and top off at the end. People have reported 16-20 quarts.
If you just drain the pan, it's *ROUGHLY* 4 -5 quarts, but the Rodney flush ended up so easy in the end, you should just do that.
I'm also in the midst of the cooler install, lots of good part numbers here or on the 3-FE list. I had a new Ford tranny cooler and installed that. I still need to run the lines and plumb it.
Is your shifter loose?? I just did that fix too and what a difference!
Engine Oil--8 quarts. The manual says 8.2, but mine is completely full at the mark with 8. Lots of opinions on what engine oil but most real authorities recommend a little heavier than the manual specifies.
Already comitted rodney flush to memory but cant convince myself to go trough 40 quarts in one shot maybe next time. Only my torque convertor has trans fluid in it new rad., and clean tranny filter.
One day months ago had the jiggly shifter and saw I could'nt fix it without parts, so I left it. Now that I did my swap the shifter in this truwas fine so no more problems.
