Howdy,

When driving yesterday I noticed the left flasher indicator was illuminated continuously. If I attempted to use the left turn signal it would blink off once and then illuminate continuously again.

Bad relay?

Thanks

Check for loose wiring, rubbing, grounded out. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Mike

You have a burnt bulb or a bad connection.
If it is an FJ40, put the haz on and you will see where the proplem is.
A better distcription of your problem would be,
This is on my 77 fj40, my tail lights are stock .
My right signal work fine, but my left signals don't flash ,
And so on...............

Ok. You can see in my sig I have a stock '70 FJ40. The right signal works normally, the left will blink very slowly once or twice then stops. The hazards are completely inoperative. Strangely, some form of voltage leak has also developed at the same time. The battery will go flat if not on the charger. I don't see any obvious bad wiring.

When your left turn signal flashes does both the front and back light work?
Is your 4 way switch inoperative or the switch works but the lights don't flash?
The turn signals in the 40 go through the 4 way switch so it might be your problem other wise I would check the grounds in your turn signals.

As far as turn signals,
Still you have a bad connection on that side that is not flashing normal, you have to trace your cirict, A good test would be to add another load to the circit ,like your test light at diffrent points along the circit will show you where the bad lead connection is.Otherwise it is a bad ground.
As for the haz, you have to see what you got, maybe another flasher for the Haz and trace that circit statring from the stop fuse.
LIKE Do you have power going to the Haz switch and leaving it when you pull the Haz switch?
And when you pull the haz switch can you still get function from the signal switch?
You may also have a seperate inline fuse for the haz circit.
Get a good wiring diagram and start tracing the circits.
You can get good tips here form others, but you have to do the fixing.
