Who all is going this year? Of course Jonathan is going as one of the directors. I hear Dave is going for his eighth Summit. Some new trails have been added this year but I'll leave that up to Jonathan to make the announcement. I'm going as a last minute add on. This will be my sixth Summit.

I'll be be there. My 5th. Glad you decided to join in. I get back on Thursday 7/3. Anything going on for the fourth of July weekend?

Dan, nothing on the calendar right now but that could change.

New trail The Gulches was added to the program this year and it was very well received. It was unique in that we had approval to run any of several gulches allowing the trip leaders to choose their own route for the later portion of each run. I personally got to run Placer, Picayune, Eureka Maggie and Arrastra durring the three trips I led. Wish I could post photos of this area here but the improved Mud won't allow it.

This week I did the right fork and came up to the Mayflower Mine. There are tons of scrap iron and debris outside the closed mine, including two big ore carts.

There is more stuff and Silver Lake on the other side of the ridge but you have to hike in to see it. You would think being less accessable that the stuff would be less torn up but alas not the case. The start of that trail crosses that huge sheet of snow which always made me nervous. One false step and you could end up at the bottom of that wall in a hurry. Did you see the sheet of snow? Did it look like people had been crossing?

Not sure where your describing. No snow seen at Mayflower Mine. The lake above had some but no problems seen.

Hmm, I have not been up there in more than five years but I recall there being an almost glacial sheet of snow year round right past the mine where you park. When you get to the end and keep looking forward in the direction you came in. Mine would be on your left. There is a foot trail that continues past the debris field that crossed this snow field. Maybe it is all melted now.

Here are some pictures I took of it in 2005. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rdplemons/sets/72157646029829320/
