Anyone running 295/70/17s off-road/mud tires on their FJ's stock lift? I'm ordering some Hankook Dynapro MT RT03s and won't be able to lift my FJ due to parking garage clearance... for now anyway. I've heard some say they rub at full lock and some claim no rubbing - ??

I know several folks who run 285's and have rubbing issues. I have 285's but doesn't rub at all. At full lock I have barely a pinky finger sized space before it'll rub. If you are going with those 295's you'll definitely need a lift.

I think there's plenty of room for tire travel with no lift and 295s but you WILL rub on the body mount. So... 15 minutes and a Sawsall can fix that.

I have Pro Comp 305's on 17's and they dop rub a little and I think would be tolerable for street BUT last week in the dunes by Coos Bay I tweeked a few things so I'm hoping to use the insurance money to do a few mods. The sand scoop[[skid plate?] buckled, and attached bracket sheered off, the lower bumper is warped [without cracking!] and a rear door and quarter panel are a little dinged. Oh, and the drivers door mirror housing is cracked. Apart from that everything seems fine. I had a blast! I will be following some of the recommendations offered on this very useful site, lift ARB, winch and shaved mounts.

285's Fit

I have 285's on my stock 17" rims. All is well -- but I have the 3" OME lift. I bumped into a guy at the TLCA event in Denver a couple of weeks ago who had the same tires as I do, no lift, and he does experience some rubbing -- it isn't very bad, though. We looked at things and it appears that "the usual body trimming" would fix that up.
