To sway bar or not to sway bar? what are you guys doing out there, are you ditching them? MY FJ sees alot of off road use, is that much articulation gained?

thanks for the input...maybe I will scrap the rear only....besides swaybars only come on US models

Our 3.5" rear suspension kit requires you abort the rear sway bar because:
(a) the 3.5" lift requires a longer sway bar link, otherwise you'll rip the stock link apart.
(b) when you completely bottom in the rear, Downeys longer sway bar link would be crushed into the lower strut arm.
(c) Downeys upgraded spring/shock rate make the tiny rear sway bar useless/excess baggage.

I find it worth it, but she is a big brick to take down the road on a windy day without it. I feel I have to fight it quite a bit with it off. But offroad I have felt a good difference.

Surely you jest my young recently out of collage friend. We wheel the same spots and I can feel a large difference. Having the sway bar on acts like a big overbearing limit strap and prevents the IFS from being truly independent. My rig is WAY less tipsy with it off. I loose front traction a whole lot less on off camber spots and would estimate 2 inches more down travel when the opposite tire is stuffed.

Besides, the stock sway bar links break and take out CV boots quite handily. Save yourself the headache and ditch the sway bar for all off road situations. I agree on road it is sloppy without it, but you get used to it.
