Hey has anyone installed or looked into installing a horizontal grab handle for the front passenger? It seems like a perfect spot for one on the face of the dash between the glove compartment below and the air bag above. I don't think there is anything back there so it would just be a matter of reinforcement. My wife would really like one. If this is possible a fabricator would do really well with this product. Anyone got any info to share? Thanks!

I know that people have mounted laptop mounts there but don't know anyone who has done a grab handle. I would be concerned about the structural strength of that piece of plastic also.

I've never taken that part of the FJC apart so I can't speak first hand but the other plastic parts I've removed are not the strongest plastic I've dealt with...

Yeah thats going to be the trick is making it structurally sound. Should be doable though. Thanks for the note and by the way loved going through your build.

I've not taken that part of the FJ apart either, it's the only part I've not taken apart aside from pulling out the dash :) I agree that the plastic even with a large backing plate is not strong enough. I feel it would crack at the edges of the backing plate. There may well be a way to fab brackets from that back of the handle either to the fire wall or to existing brackets in the area. If I ever get around to changing my cabin filter I will take a look up in there.
