I know this question has come up before and the answer was always no but has any one actually tried it? I was looking at the toytec website at the eibach front springs and the p/n is the same for the 3rd gen 4Runner as it is for the FJ cruiser.

The only thing is lift height, it says the 3rd gen gains 3" and the FJ gains 1.6" so in theory shouldnt the factory FJ springs give a 3rd gen 1.4"?

Im curious why every one says the factory FJ cruiser springs wont fit on the '96-'02 4Runner?

Have you tried asking Doug at Toytec his thoughts? They may have done some experimenting.

Other than that, putting the two springs side by side and checking height, number of wraps and thickness might give you some indication.

tried it on a 2wd 98 did not work much longer and so was the shock just go with some adjustable bilstein i paid 184 for the set got 2.5in lift

We have never tested the stock FJ spring on a 3rd gen so we don't really know how much lift it will acutually give you. But the spring should physically work because the inside diameter is the same, but we can't guarantee anything because we have never tested the spring and shock combo. Also you can't really compare the eibach spring to the stock spring because the coils have different engineering and spring rates.

i put 07 fjc front and rear springs on my 98 runner. it drives well at bit softer than new stock runner springs, but not hateful.
you cannot use the fjc strut, it is too long in the lower shaft. the rear shocks work fine and are longer than stock, which helps since the fjc rear springs are taller that shock runner, i dont have a measurement, but def. more flex.

hope this helps

Why would one consider the FJC springs over the tall '99 4runner springs?
