Looks like he’s not wearing a diaper in the pixs? I can’t imagine a non potty trained kid doing a long trip like that.
No need to imagine :). 9 days mostly in the truck and 3,000 miles. He was really a trooper, totally worth it. So this trip was with a 13 month old, wife 5 months pregnant, and the dog. Next August we will also have an 8 month old. Don't know if we'd be able to pull that off. I was very happy with how family friendly and accommodating everyone was for this event.

(For those that notice, yes his seat is forward facing, we did that on the trails so he could see, it was turned back around for the highway.)

Hijack over, everyone get your minds back into the gutter(s).

@Kleatus at least at that age they aren’t constantly repeating... “are we there yet!” Good for you to break him in on the trail at an early age.
Agreed. My son at 5 is now doing that when we’re on our way home from his dads town to mine... and it’s only about 40 mins.

Gutter Party!

Cleaned up and re-sealed the Raingutter s on a few rigs last weekend. Pretty fun crew: the photos tell the tale.

Pre Party Prep

I need a taller garage.

1. Heat gun to remove old sealant w/picks & flat screwdriver.
2. Wirewheel
3. Rust convert
4. Wash and clean rust converter w/soap and water.
5. Sand with 180 grit. Wipe clean.
6. Clean with degreaser
7. Wipe down with Tack Cloth
8. Spray 2k epoxy primer.
9. Use 3M control flow sealant. One tube is enough for whole rig. (it comes with a mixing tip, they have different colors so Amazon shop accordingly, bring a friend with a few steps stools/ ladders and a couple acid brushes to spread evenly)

Real deal Gutter Party!

Thanks to @KeilOver for being a gracious host for the event. Tacos and a super tent? Who does that?

In total we had 7 rigs show up with 4 getting resealed that day.

Nicely done.. Seams are something that I think will be on my agenda for next year. Found a few spots that looked cracked this weekend when I was prepping for paint. Is the control flow a self-leveling agent?

Yes, it is self leveling.
Now the question is, how expensive was the gun?! Last I saw (few months back) they seemed like they were about $45 for the gun and about as much for the sealant.

We borrowed the one we used from @red66toy maybe he can speak to that. Ask around and see if someone has one to borrow.

With all the prep stuff it might have been a $100 project.

I think I paid around $35. I knew I would be using it for other seam sealing jobs and not just the gutters so it was worth it to me. Plus now it really paid for itself since the group got to use it  .

It ends up being about $200 if you get all the 2K primer, paint, clear coat you'll need in addition to the wire wheel, picks, heat gun, tack cloths, degreaser, sandpaper, and metal prep/rust converter.

Not a terribly complicated job, but nerve-wracking since you won't know whether you've messed up until years down the road when the rust returns with a vengeance.

I'm curious how it will be to remove this new seam-sealer, compared to the factory stuff. The stuff we used filled the entire gutter channel, not just the seam. It also seems to cure harder than the factory stuff.
