Just got this bad boy in and for a shorter ax it's really sweet. Amazon has been at $36 for awhile but Zoro has free shipping right now with no min so for $28.58 and tax delivered.

Camel x3 says this is a pretty good price as well exept for the one day the algos dropped it to $19 for a few hours.

Didn't want a full size axe but wanted something a bit bigger than the smaller fiskars hatchet and this fits the bill perfectly.

I have a splitting axe by them and it's been good. However I have noticed the steel is very soft and the blade always looks chewed up. I have contemplated welding a a few rows of 7013 welding rod to the blade and grinding it back into a hardened cutting edge.

I just don't want to give up on it because it works really good beyond that...

The biggest complaint on them is just that, they're softer than the standard axe head, but that said it's pretty easy to take a bastard file and put it right back to where it was.

Throwing some 7013 on the end is an interesting idea, the life time warranty and the previous purchase of the x7 sold me on this one, now to RSS a camelx3 feed to keep an eye on a splitting axe.

I got mine last week & it feels real nice. Got it mounted in a couple Quick-Fists in the back of my 80 where the 3rd row seat roof handles were. Fits nicely! Now just for the next camping trip to come along so I can try it out!

I mounted the hatchet to one side and a small shovel to the other, I may have to toss this in the drawers.

I've put mine through hell in Uganda, has held up decently well for the money. As others have said, it's soft, but has always allowed me to bring firewood back to camp.

What would be the best way to sharpen this particular axe? I'll be trying mine out for the 1st time tomorrow & became curious as to how to sharpen it properly.

They're soft enough to use a stone, the same you'd use for pocket knives, I know others have used a fine bastard file to bring the edge back before the stone if you flatten it that much.

Just went and used mine for the first time and I'm impressed! Beats the hell out of any axe I've ever used before. Handle is a little short for heavy blows but the blade is so effective that big swings aren't required. Blade is soft for the hackberry I was chopping. Edge is still good and no need, as of now, for sharpening. For <$38 delivered it can't be beat. Hell, for $75 it can't be beat!
