Hello everyone! I've been on Mud for a few years now. I'm usually on the 80 Series section so this is my first post here. My gasoline powered mower finally bit the dust. It was given to me, it was previously used on a campground. I decided since I have a small back yard so I figured I'd give a Reel mower a chance. I landed on Fiskars, having prior experience with their scissors and Lopper. I know they make quality products. Here's my first ever mower I purchase myself. I love it so far! Would Fluid Film suffice as far as lubrication and rust proofing go?

I had a cheap one (not fiskars) that I tried using for a while on our really small lawn. I guess there were several factors (too light, wheels made from plastic, too much friction in the rotating assembly) that most of the time it would skid across the grass and not cut anything. If I could get it going, it would go along OK, but my lawn was so small that very shortly I would have to stop and start again...

I guess my advice would be to mow the lawn when the grass is dry (later in the day) and keep the mechanism well lubricated (but try not to get lubricant on the wheel tread). Good luck and have fun!

First cut went well, a bike chain type assembly is what drives the wheels creating more momentum which is definitely noticeable. Love that it cuts the grass clean across the top like scissors would. They really thought about everything with this Reel mower. I look forward to cutting the grass now.
