did we decide to do a run last night at the meeting?

i think we decided to try to head out either tomorrow or next saturday and to explore the east side of the valley from OK Falls up to chute lake / hydraulic lakes.

i am game to do it if other folks are. please chime in. i suggest we can start at ok falls in the iga parking lot.

This weekend (today) I am doing the front axle service on my truck. Next weekend is open.

Wish I had seen this earlier today. I just got back from a run out to Nickel Plate. Ran into the Herd of Turtle guys camped at Nickel Plate. They were clearing some trails for an event they are hosting the BC day long weekend. Seemed like a decent group of guys (even if they were J**pers)

I'd still be up for some exploring in the Chute Lake area tomorrow. Its been a while since I've been up to Big Meadow Lake and Ratnip Lake...

Awww you guys...I put my birf job off till now and now my axles are sitting in a bucket.

What about Canada day (Wed)?.

Hmm, I'd maybe be up for that on Canada day if I'm around. I have to head to Calgary this week but am trying to put it off til Thurs morning.

Have you been up to the top of Terrace Mtn? It's in the North side of the Bear Creek Motarized area. I've been in the area up around Blue Grouse a lot but never up to Terrace. I hear it's quite the view from up there.

I need to go for a run with my fresh axle job...gotter done.

I was up at Terrace last fall, lots of fresh logging on the NW side but not much in the way of older trails.

How about going to the top of Pennask. We could climb up the backside (off hwy 97C at the Sunset exit) see if there are any fish in Hidden lake then sumit Pennask and come back out in Peachland, Summerland or Princeton take your pick.

what is the driving like up pennask? in trees or open country?

The older trails are in mature timber (from the powerline to the lake and up to the top) then it is mixed from clear cut to clear cut on the way down to Headwaters. Nothing grown in, if you are thinking bush burn. The top of Pennask Mnt is open alpine if you like hiking its pretty nice.

i would like to do an open country run somewhere instead of in the trees.

You will have to enlighten me. The only open country I know of in BC is where the trees are all chopped down.

Are you looking for bald grasslands like the Douglas Lake county in Merrit?

The trail up Pennask is not "fold in the mirrors" tight or anything like that, if thats what you are thinking.

yes, i guess i was thinking douglas ranch country. i thought you could get into it by heading north of the connector.

Its all Douglas Lake country north and south of the connector. Their range goes all the way down to above Allison lake on the East side.

There are a number of roads into the actual Douglas lake: gas line, powerline and logging roads.
