SILVER Star
My new to me 77 has stock seats that are in nice shape. I knew going in I would need to relocate the seat back to fit. I reviewed several threads and dug in. I had a 3 inch wide piece of 3/16" steel to start with. I found a variety of nuts and bolts. Sometimes being a shop horder pays off.
Having whatever brand of console in this thing made things more complex. It was too low once I got the rails built and I had to raise it. It is also too wide in my opinion and made everything harder, which just pissed me off.
I trimmed a little off of the seat rail on the left to get it as far back as possible. I can't count how many times the seat went in and out during this process. I also cut the passenger side steel too short assuming it would be the same length as the left side. That's when the welder came out. I'll drive it for a bit before taking it back apart and trimming excess and painting.
All my wife could say is, "you already took it apart"?
