On your next attempt, I’d like for you to remove that cover on the bottom of the bellhousing so that you can
reach up there (either with your hand or a pry bar/big screwdriver) and manually move the TO bearing to make sure it is properly over the bearing retainer/slide. I would think that the TO bearing being a factory part number for your specific setup, would fit over the slide properly, however it looks snug in the pics.
I don’t know if you ended up dropping the trans back down or if it’s still in place, but if it’s down, clean that slide really good with some emory cloth and lube it with some light grease or heavy oil. Then take that TO bearing and make sure it fits over the slide. Afterwards we can eliminate that as something holding you up.

On my last attempt after I sprayed it down w wd40,I was able to slide the retainer about 1 1/2 into the TO bearing (about another 1/2" past where you drew the tip of the arrow), so this pic does not show how far I was able to drive the shaft/splines in, just one of the pics along the way- I might take the bottom BH cover off anyway...

Somebody over in the Sacramento/San Francisco area please get with @Tomba and give this poor guy a hand.
Thanks. It's definately a 2 person job, no question. I've tried EVERYTTHING but cant seem to align the output shaft/ pilot hole. I've have a second set of hands after this next rain. I should be calmed down by then.

Trick I learned from @Texican, use an emory cloth and gently polish the input shaft until you can slide the pilot bearing on the shaft by hand. Sometimes the clearance is too tight and you can’t get that last 1” in w/o binding.
Thanks but that was on my everything list. polished the unput shaft, light grease on it and the p
splines as well as the last bit of the input shaft, polished the inside of the bearing race/light grease, slid the bearing all the way on the shaft before attempting to try attached to the fork, lowered the trans slightly then pushed up and inward, tried a bit higher same thing, tried pushing while laying on my back with my feet. The only thing I havent tried is putting in the slave cylinder on and have someone depress the clutch while i try pushing from below. the only issue there is if I dont engage the splines on the clutch might slip out of position and I'll have to undo botls and reposition. also made sure the alignment tool slid in effortlessly before starting.

I haven't read everything but are you putting the transmission in high gear and rotating the output shaft while "jiggling" "wiggling" "pushing" the transmission forward?
Some rotation is needed to align the splines into the clutch..

It's in 1st gear but I can go all the way in til 1 1/4" gap left then It stops so the splines are engaged. Yes doing the wiggling /jiggling while pushing.

It's in 1st gear
Any gear technically will work but high gear is what you want for this, no need to fight the gear ratio.

In your video the throw out bearing is backwards to how it would be installed, it wouldn't matter for the video but will matter if you're trying to install a transmission.

We were pretty certain the splines were engaged being that the distance remaining was roughly that of the shaft end that engages the pilot bearing.
If however, the splines were not engaged on account of me telling him to use first gear and if he switches it to fourth gear and it just magically falls in place, I will deliver to him AND you the 10 year bottle of Whistle Pig Bourbon

me telling him to use first gear
I don't believe that is the problem, it will be roughly four times easier if he puts it in high gear versus first but still The splines are either engaged or they are not.
Still waiting to hear if the throw out bearing was facing the right direction...

Well, I appreciate you helping out also with all you have going on. There’s nothing worse than trying to help someone out with a problem like this over a chat forum or text rather than being there in person to see WTF is going on.
