Fender Flares

My 100 came with Fender flares, which I do not like. Ever since I first test drove it the first time, I thought it was rattling too much. And I think I have found the culprit too. It is those stupid flares.

So Can I just unscrew and take off the stupid flares? Any downside to this?

Edit: And please do not say I am going to miss those rattles.....
