Fatal Strap Breakage in Sri Lanka

I'm cross posting this video because it really impacted me and I felt compelled to share. In the video a truck is apparently being pulled by another truck with an ARB Kinetic Snatch Strap. The strap is attached to a hitch or welded on hook on the vehicle pictured. The strap/attachment point (EDIT, the entire hitch assembly is ripped of the rear cross member http://www.adaderana.lk/news.php?nid=18656) breaks and the stored kinetic energy causes the strap to violently shoot backwards killing two bystanders. IMO Many people were at fault in this incident primarily the event organizers and drivers for allowing spectators to be so close and engaging in unsafe recovery techniques. I am posting this not to gross anyone out but hopefully help to educate and bring to mind the very real dangers that we come across during a recovery situation. If you don't know what you are doing, ASK! If you see someone else doing something stupid and dangerous, STOP THEM! Its all of our right and responsibility.
