I'll be back in a while. Gonna fix the toilet; that's easy. Need to replace the chain, that's all. (I think)

Next, going down to put the new p-trap in. If I can...

what's wrong with the angry beaver?:flipoff2:

about all i use them for is demo'ing out pipe.

Angry me? Not at all. It's just that I'm getting lazy in my old age and if I can get a porta-band on it in lew of the mickey mouse saw then I'm all over it.

Heck I'd use the plasma cutter if it weren't so dangerous and messy.

Oh, I see some of you guys think like hubby does... *sheepish grin*

Ian, I have the p-trap, I have what I need, and I have some plumbing knowledge. Just couldn't budge the thing.

NOTHING in this house is Standard. NOTHING can be bought at your local regular NHome Depot kind of joint. Everything is non-standard size (built in 1941), and almos tnone of it can be bought at regular stores. That's why I keep/hoarde a supply of parts for our old piping & fixtures. *sigh*

Most plumbers, when stumped, come calling here to see if they can buy a this or a that widget from us. I collect this kind of s*** when I find it, and when I see large amounts of trash collection at curbs. I trash-pick for old plumbing & electrical & hardware stuff... :o I also buy at oddity stores and places where there are still old-fahsioned hardware stores with ancient stock.

Man youshould see all the crap I throw out. Packing for faucets, rings, gaskets....etc.....

My apologies, I did not intend to doubt your skills. :o

Best of luck!

Oh, Ian, I didn't mean to snap! :o

No, I didn't mean to sound shapr. Please acceopt my deepest apologies. Please.

Aack! Don't throw perfectly good plumbing supplies out!
You might need something someday!

(and now you know why I'm such a packrat! lol)

The new trap's in. :bounce2:

I have to clean up, and shower.

And then, spend a couple hours finishing up the writing of a one-off short story I promised somebody.

Thank you, everybody, for both your help and your encouragement. This is a very trying time for me -- being without my husband for so long -- and it's getting harder as it goes on. Thanks! :)

Holler if ya need us "OBH".

Holler if ya need us "OBH".

Will do. THANKS!!

I really appreciate it.

One angry beaver is enough for now. :grinpimp:

I suppose that's not addressed to ME??

Say, 92LC_good2go, that guy of yours isn't trying to see the Cardinals/Tigers, is he? They got rained out tonight.

He probably was. Dunno; didn't ask.

I know I heard his female friend's kids, though...

She's nice enough a gal. Too young, *I* think. A single mom - TWICE over - by the age of 23!

Isn't that a bit young for a guy just about to turn 61 in a coupla weeks?
Folks say that *I* am a bit young for him (and I'm 45 yrs old).

Anyway, glad you got it fixed. Aren't challenges great?

Yeah, great.

But... Hey! I DID IT!!! :bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2: (with help from you guys, of course, but I DID IT!! :grinpimp: )

I DID IT!!!

And, I finished up that short story for my friend, too. Yaay!

Now, all I have left to do tonight is to see if I can also finish a comissioned poem, as well. Strike while my muse is still encouraging, and all that. This p-i-t-a ballad is due in a few short weeks. I just can't get it "just right". *sigh*

My 1927 house in CA has all non current standard size plumbing, some of it was probably NEVER anyone's standard. They make all sorts of adapters, reducers, connectors for such situations that I used to find at Orchard Supply but now have seen at HD and Lowes. If it's not out on the floor ask for someone to look what you need up in their master catalog.

And there's the duct tape adapter/gasket that done well can last for years.

(a portable bandsaw under the sink? Riiight. superman. )

Second the Superman.Glad you got it fixed.Galvy sucks.Crack a joint ,leak 2.Good for you.And I must say, your guy is lucky, not only can you handle it...but,you don't ask where he's at.
