In what was the toughest automotive decision in over 20 years, I have reluctantly sold my beloved 1999 LX470.
I purchased it 3 years ago with 70,000 miles and proceeded to baseline all fluids and have the 90k preformed. Once all mechanical needs were met, that is when the fun started.
First, off went the running boards followed by BFG A/T KO2's. Then came $3000 for the stereo (gosh was that money well spent)
I loved this truck more than any vehicle I have ever owned. That said, after my fiancee passed, it really was only me in the car 98% of the time. While that is fine, I did feel guilty getting 10 MPG (after the tires) whenI got off trail at most 5 times a year. I have been averaging 20,000 miles a year as well.
I did stay in the family by purchasing my older brother's 2006 Lexus LS430 with the insane $14,000 Ultra Luxury Package. It even has Radar Guided Cruise Control with Accident Precollision. Talk about getting a diametrically different car!
I really am going to miss MUD. I have been a moderator on several websites and while not one here, this is by far the best automotive owners site I have ever come across
Thank you for all the help and wisdom that was always kindly offered. This is an amazing community.
All the best,
Jack
