so i just put my 08 fj up on a hoist at my work and to my surprise, the track bar appears to be bent. Is this supposed to have a curve in it from the factory for clearance or is mine actually bent? all of the aftermarket ones are straight and i cant seem to find a picture of an oem one anywhere online...mine does not appear to have any physical damage on it from smacking it on anything.

Pics would help but, it should be straight, no bends...

It would be difficult, but if the diff slipped off of a big rock that the control rod hung up on, then yeah the weight of the truck would bend it. Hard to see any other way that could happen.

That's weird im sure its been this way for a long time too. I would've though that would be a much stronger part, but then again its a pretty heavy vehicle. Is the icon bar just about the only option for replacement or are there any other recommendations for a good aftermarket one?

Can't tell from the photo but I would check for some sort of impact mark on the bar to see if that was the cause. I know that I stress bent a stock upper link on mine so it could be possible, odd but possible.

I agree with Jerry, you can certainly pick up a stock unit from the bone yard.

I ended up opting for the icon adjustable bar. Its definately overkill for what i have now, but i will be much less likely to damage it, its has a lifetime warranty if i do, and its something i may have more use for later on down the road when more upgrades come my way. Thanks for all your input!

since you replaced that...if you haven't already...i'd beef up the rear LCA's too...they are easy to bend...
