Ex manifold crack 2.7L (1 Viewer)

My 97 4unner 2.7L is loud under the hood when cold. Once warmed up it sounds fine. It has 125K and runs fine otherwise. Are these manifolds prone to crack? How hard is it to replace and do you recommend using a used one if needed.

I would use this opportunety to buy aftermarket headers from LCE.

Potential crack but most likely gasket. Used may work fine, just make sure you get the right one. Not 100% the years are the same.

It's Cracked

Just had time to pull the heat sheild off the manifold. It's cracked right down the middle between #2 and #3. Does anyone have a good used one and how hard is it to fish the old one out?

I've actually heard this is quite common on earlier 2.7's. Supposedly they changed the design of the manifold in 00 or 01 to a better setup that supposedly doesn't crack. But it is a good excuse for a header.
