Has anyone ever used Extreme Vehicle Builders (formerly JD's Offroad) in Danbury CT? Looking to have some suspension work done and given that I need custom springs for the rear of my FJ43 I think I need a shop to help.

FWIW, I stopped in there last year to ask about a couple jobs. The kid I spoke with was friendly and professional, and I came away with a good first impression. That said, I ended up doing the work myself, so I can't say one way or another what they're actually like.

If you need custom springs made, you should also check out Danbury Auto Spring and Welding. They're only 5 or 10 minutes away, off of I-84, and I've had them make some replacements for broken springs. Real old school machine shop run by competent curmudgeons.

thanks. I totally agree with how you described them, I visited there on Friday, and they were extremely attentive and professional. Seemed like the real deal shop. Showed us active builds, etc. His bread and butter is dealership business for mods to customer trucks/jeeps.

Owner had his fabricator come out to look at some minor rot along the floor pan where it meets the rocker. Then owner spent about 1/2 to and 1hr going through the rig.

$100+ an hour labor rate, but the stuff I need to do is beyond my skill and time limits...

I will hopefully get more info this week and if all goes well, maybe rig goes in in 4 - 5 weeks for a mechanical overhaul.

I will post pics of its progress.
