You recon the challenges of digging around in their parts yard a few hours every day in January is the reason they need a new mechanic?

I can barely muster the motivation to change the oil inside my semi-heated garage this time of year and we are nowhere near as cold as Salida. No thanks... I'll keep my day job.

Sounds appealing. Problem is 1) I have no professional resume for auto work (just 25 years of wrenching on my and other peoples' junk) and 2) I have about a months' contract work at $65/hr that I'm not wanting to put in peril for what might be a $12/hr (or less) job.
