Winch Gurus, Need your help. I mounted a rear winch on my 40. A 12,000 lb. Badlands Winch( I guess I had nothing better to do while my project is still in pieces all over my shop) plus You couldn't beat the price.I also have a 9000 lb Warn ready for the front.So now I need help with wiring to a dual battery setup. I have ordered 2/0 welding cable (individual pos. and neg ,for the rear winch, to go to the batteries under the hood ). Now I need help with the termination connections at the batteries. What setup would you use? Thanks in advance , the dog.

Just lug the cables and use military battery connectors at the batteries. Welding cables usually take slightly larger lug barrels than a comparably-sized (2/0 AWG) standard cable, but it varies by lug manufacturer.

Marine starting batteries have auxiliary positive and negative posts, which eliminates the crowded battery terminal problem.

I suggest, for safety in a rearend collision, that you have a quick disconnect on the positive cable feeding the rear winch. Leave it disconnected until you air down at the trailhead and remember to disconnect it again when you air up. You don't want a short at the rear to ignite a fire the length of your vehicle.

I use Anderson connectors like Warn supplies in their multiple-mount setup. The long rear winch lead only uses the positive side because I ground the rear winch to the frame, not the battery. I have the Anderson connectors on each end and on my jumper cables as well so I can jump someone from front or rear.
